IOF Opens Fire, Besieges and Arrests Many Children near Erez Crossing

1:40pm, on 25/2/2008, the IOF, stationed at the Erez Crossing, opened fire at a number of children who were in the vicinity.
They also fired tear gas in order to disperse them, but no casualties were reported.

It is noteworthy that dozens of boys who accompanied the human chain (protest), which was organized by the People's Committee Against the Siege, approached Erez's industrial zone and then moved close to Abu Iskandar Square.
They threw stones at the IOF then entered the closed road that lead to the main crossing gate.

They ransacked the place as an expression of the state of public discontent with the current situation due to Israel's siege on the Gaza Strip.

The IOF allowed Palestinian ambulances to come to Abu Iskandar square.

After that an IOF special unit exited from another entrance in the Crossing.
The IOF besieged 49 children and one young man who were on the road, and detained them inside.
After minutes, they released 22 childern.
Twenty-seven children remained under detention.

11pm that same day, the IOF released the children except 20-year-old Mohammad Abdullah Qassim, a resident of Beit Lahia.
