3:30pm, on 26 February 2008, the IOF, driving in fortified military vehicles, opened fire at homes of citizens in the Al Qarara village in eastern Khan Younis.
These vehicles penetrated Al Qarara village at a distance estimated at 100 meters using heavy, random fire.
As a result, one farmer, 32-year-old Hassan Salman Ali Abu Sabet, was killed.
He was near his home at the time, located about 700 meters from the border.
He was transferred to Nasser Hospital for treatment.
Reports said that he was injured by three live bullets to the pelvis and right hand, and received shrapnel to the chest.

6:30pm later that day, doctors failed to save his life and he died from wounds he sustained from the incident.
