6:45pm, on 25 March 2008, unknown armed men entered Al Manshi pharmacy and tried to kidnap 26-year-old journalist, Tawfiq Abu Jarad.
The pharmacy is close to Abu Jarad's home in the Al Manshia area of Beit Lahia.
According to Al Mezan field investigations, the armed men raided the pharmacy and tried to take Abu Jarad to their car.
He refused to obey their orders and he was held against the glass door of the pharmacy.
The armed men opened fire at the door and destroyed it, injuring Abu Jarad.
The men proceeded to take Abu Jarad to their car.
A large number of citizens gathered and prevented them from taking him.
The armed men left him and fled from the scene.
Glass from the door injured Abu Jarad.
He also suffered from bullet wounds to his legs and bruises to different parts of his body.
No information is available regarding the identity of the perpetrators or the motivation behind the incident.
