12:20pm, on 23/5/2008, a mysterious explosion occurred in Al Qarara Club in eastern Khan Younis.
As a result, 9-year-old Bara'a Al Astal was killed when he was hit in his chest by shrapnel.
Also, three other children were injured with various wounds.
They were reported to have sustained minor injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, the children found a suspicious object in eastern Al Qarara village on a farm near the border.
The children were playing with the object in the Club when it exploded.
The father of Bara'a Al Astal mentioned that the shrapnel from the object was small and white and made from aluminum.
It could be from the IOF.
