On Monday, 9/6/2008, the bodies of two citizens were found in a collapsed tunnel in As Salam neighborhooed in southern Rafah. They were identified as 20-year-old Fadi Hussein Khalifa and 27-year-old Majdi Abdel Jawad Khdeir. Khalifa was retrieved by Civil Defense officials at approximately 4:30pm and Khdeir was found at approximately 9:50pm. Khdeir was from Khan Younis. The border tunnel connected the Gaza Strip with Egypt.
