At around 3:15am on Tuesday, 21 October 2008, unidentified persons fired shots at the house of Amjad Abu Naja, a leader of the Qassam Brigades', which is located near Abdelaziz el-Rantisi Mosque.
Two of the Qassam Brigades of the same area went to the shooting area and pursued two persons in an ally.
The two parties shot at each others but no injuries were reported.
The gunmen managed to escape.
A number of neighbors went out to check what was going on.
One of them found an explosive device connected with a radio set 12 meters away from Abu Najja's house.
Police was immediately called and the explosive device was defused.
Later, the Internal Security arrested 12 people of the Ma'an area.
Most of them are members of the previous government's security forces.
Another number of residents received summons for interrogation.
