On Tuesday, 17 May 2015, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights concludes training course entitled, “Women in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law” held at Takween Society for Development in Ezbet Abed-Rabbo neighborhood in Jabaliya.
The training course is part of Al Mezan’s awareness program and aimed to enhance the respect and protection of human rights and the principles of IHL regarding women in the occupied Palestinian territory.
Hussein Hammad, Al Mezan’s field worker in the North Gaza district, concluded the course by thanking the 30 trainees for their participation and the Takween Society for their cooperation with Al Mezan. He urged the participants to make maximum benefit from the knowledge and skills offered in the training on the protection of human rights. He handed out certificates of completion to the participants.
The course consisted of 15 training hours delivered over three days. The participants were introduced to the principles of human rights and international humanitarian law; the protection mechanisms for women and children in armed conflict; and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
