The incident targeted Osama Fathy Idries Jbarah, a 29-year old Fatah activist.
Jbarah was injured in the head when he approached a public phone cabinet that exploded as soon as he lifted the telephone.
This incident constitutes a resumption of the Israeli officially-announced policy of the extra-judicial killing of Palestinians.

(13:30 GMT), the belligerent Israeli Occupation Forces shelled as- Saiafa area, located near Bait Lahia (in the Gaza Strip), with heavy artillery and machineguns.
As a result, two Palestinian farmers, a man and his son, were wounded.
These individuals, both of who are residents of Jabalia, are: Ssalah Sha’ban Ibrahiem Khadhr, 63 years old, injured in the left shoulder.
Nabiel Ssalah Sha’ban Khadhr, 36 years old, injured in the flank area.
His condition is critical Ssalah Khadhr provided al-Mezan’s field workers with a testimony in which he stated that he, as well as 5 of his family members, had been engaged in farming activities on their land when the incident took place.
He said that they had been exposed to a sudden volley of bullets fired by Israeli soldiers, who were positioned in the vicinity of the Dogiet settlement near their land.
In the same incident, a National Security Forces center, located near the coast west of as- Saiafa, was heavily damaged.
Soon after the incident, the belligerent Israeli Occupation Forces closed the only road that connects that area with the rest of the Gaza Strip.
They also deployed a large number of military tanks along a fence that these forces had built around Palestinian land last week.
Since that time, these forces have prevented 150 Palestinians, who represent 34 families residing in the area, from leaving or entering.
In addition, 80 other Palestinians, including children, who were visiting relatives or friends in that area or working in their fields, were also prevented from leaving the area.

These forces threatened to open fire on whoever tried to leave the area.
On 23/06/2001, around 4:00 p.
m.
( 13:00 GMT), the belligerent Israeli Occupation forces permitted the residents of the aforementioned area to leave, on the condition that they never return.
They then reinforced the fence encircling the area, which destroyed the two sand dunes upon which it stood.
This morning the army proceeded to force the citizens of this area to abandon all of their vehicles (cars) outside the area.
The residents, however, refused.
In another development, yesterday (24/6/2001) at 4:00 a.
m.
(1:00 GMT), the occupation forces penetrated into the Palestinian territories.
This incursion surprised the Barahimah neighborhood in west Rafah, located near the border.
Two military bulldozers, accompanied by four armored tanks, carried out this latest act of aggression.
This was accompanied by intensive firing of both heavy and intermediate bullets and mortars from the military machinery advanced to the area as well as from the observation tower situated in the center of the Tel Zu’rub area, located at the border some 800 meters from the site.
The residents, awakened to the sound of the shelling and the explosions, were hence forced to flee from their houses in search of shelter to protect them and their children from the Israeli shelling.
The bulldozers demolished their homes, including all of their furniture and other belongings.

They forced the residents to vacate their homes without permitting them to evacuate their belongings.
The three destroyed houses belonged to the following individuals, respectively: The house of Abdallah Handhal Mutawi’ was completely destroyed.
His house, covered structure spanning 140 square meters, was home to seven individuals.
The house of Jabr Hasan al- Hasanat was completely destroyed.
His house, a cement structure spanning 160 square meters, was home to five individuals.
The house of Hafiz Ibrahiem al- Hasanat suffered severe damage and has hence been rendered unlivable.
His house, a cement structure spanning 150 square meters, was home to 6 individuals.
Friday afternoon, Israeli occupation forces fired upon several young men east of the Maghazi camp, killing Muhannad Souidan, 22 years of age.
He was shot by a number of live bullets in various places throughout his body.
The Israeli attack also resulted in the injury of two others who are yet to be identified because the occupation forces arrested them immediately.
In light of this escalation, we at Al Mezan Center appeal to the international community and demands that it: First:   Break out of its silence.
The silence of the international community is a veritable conspiracy signifying its acceptance of the occupation forces’ annihilation of the rights of the Palestinian people and their property.
Second: Provide immediate protection to civilians and their property.
This demand is rendered even more urgent by the grave deterioration of the situation occurring on the ground.
Such protection is necessary in order to prevent the Israeli Prime Minister from repeating the kinds of massacres that he has carried out in the past.
