Short Link:
Yesterday night Suliman Uwid Muhammad Abu Amra, 38-years-old, died in the military intelligence headquarters in Gaza City.
Abu Amra was from Deir al-Balah and had been arrested by the military intelligence since 8 August 2001.
Abu Amra’s family and relatives gathered in Deir al-Balah yesterday morning.
They burned wheels and blocked al-Hikr road which connects the south of the Gaza Strip with the north.
They fired in the air demanding that an enquiry be set up to find out and trial those who are responsible for his death.
This acts continued till the afternoon.
They refuse to bury the body until their request be approved by the PA.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights considers this incident grave and fears Abu Amra was tortured during detention.
The Center demands that the General Prosecutor carries out an investigation in this case and that he deals with it according to the law as a case of suspected death.
