Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, a member of the Committee to Defend Political Prisoners, has submitted an appeal through its lawyers Adnan Al-Hajar and Jamil Sarhan to the Palestinian High Court of Justice in Gaza city today 2/11/2001 in order to issue its introductory decision, approve the appeal and to oblige the general prosecution, to explain the reasons behind arresting their client, Khalid Yasin Sha’ban Al-Alul, 38 years old from Bait Lahia.
On Monday, 5/11/2001, the request was approved by the court, which obliged the prosecution to present the reasons of Al-Alul’s arrest in eight days, beginning form the day they are informed its decision.
Al-Alul has been detained since 31/10/2001 by Palestinian security forces out of the due process according toe the criminal procedures Law of 2001.
Moreover, the center’s lawyers have requested to visit three of their clients, Al-Alul is among them, however the Administration Gaza Central Prison rejected their requests.
Banning lawyers from visiting their clients violates one of the basic human rights, the right of the detainee to meet with his lawyer, and it also breaches articles 102 and 103 of the Criminal Procedures Law of 2001.
