Today, Tuesday 23 November 2010 Mr.
Issam Younis, the director of Al Mezan Center for Human Right, met Mr.
Sir Vincent Fean, the United Kingdom’s Consul-General in Jerusalem, at Al Mezan’s office in Gaza City.
Fean is visiting Gaza for the first time since he started his post in Jerusalem a few weeks ago.
Younis welcomed the Consul-General and wished him the best with his new post.

Younis also called on the European Union to play a political role and to exert pressure on Israel to end its violations against the population of Gaza and to uphold the legal and moral obligations, including providing protection for Gaza population, which is necessary to ensure that the Palestinian people enjoy their legitimate rights.
Moreover, Mr.
Younis talked about the legal status of the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt); including the Gaza Strip, and Israel’s legal obligations under the international law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention.
Younis also talked about the Palestinian internal split and its serious impacts on the Palestinian rights.
He called for the support for the reconciliation efforts to ensure the Palestinian union and to end violations of human rights.
