Al Mezan Center for Human Rights founded the first library in north Gaza Strip. The Center's library is specialized in the field of Law and Human Rights and contains a variable number of sources and informative materials in both English and Arabic ordered according to Dewey decimal classification The library was established in 2002 and opened for public use in early 2004. It is located in the main office of Al Mezan Center for Human Rights in Jabalia Camp – opposite to the police station- 2nd floor. Objectives: The Library aims at raising awareness of law and Human Rights in north Gaza Strip where 1.4 million Palestinians live. It is designed to serve different groups of local community such as school pupils, university students, researchers, and those who are interested. The library aims also at enriching the scientific research in Human Rights, development, justice, law, and good governance. Library Groups: The library focuses more on increasing the number and quality
of its stock mainly law and Human Rights, Economics, Politics,
sociology, General History, as to build strong and complete groups
to meet the needs of the researchers. The management at the library
works hard to continuously renew and develop these groups. Periodicals section: The library management provides special periodicals to serve the researchers since they are the fastest to offer studies and different researches. The library includes periodicals specialized in law, political science, and general periodicals, in addition to publications and periodicals issued by the NGOs.
