Al Mezan's monitoring and documenting finds that the first quartet of 2008 saw an unprecedented escalation in human rights violations in the Gaza Strip.

From 27 February – 3 March 2008, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continued its military operations and escalated its aggression the Gaza Strip; including civilians and civilian property.

Al Mezan Center for Human Rights calls upon the international community to uphold its legal responsibilities towards the civilians in the OPT, by protecting them and their property and exert effective efforts to lift the siege of the Gaza Strip immediately.

Al Mezan asserts that the conditions Gaza lives now represent a serious human crisis that places at risk the life of tens of thousands of innocent civilians because of the lack of food and medicine. Silence against such a crisis represents compliance.

This report is a study in response to the Israeli decision to suspend Gaza's customs code. This decision has had a serious impact on the economic conditions in Gaza and on fundamental human rights of the Gazan population
