Support Lifting the Ban on Re-Building Gaza

Al Mezan Center for Human Rights has begun an advocacy campaign demanding an end to Israel’s ongoing siege on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing in particular the continuing embargo on entry of construction materials. Al Mezan has already issued appeals to the international community at multiple levels through the United Nations and the European Union ( read these appeals here). We now call on concerned citizens to demonstrate their solidarity by writing to their political representatives to protest the siege on Gaza.

The siege is a draconian form of unlawful collective punishment of Gaza’s population. Under the siege, construction materials are prevented from entering. Almost 3 years after Israel’s major attack on Gaza (Operation Cast Lead, December 2008 – January 2009), many of those whose homes were destroyed are still unable to rebuild and remain displaced or living in inadequate housing.
