Israeli occupation forces (IOF) escalated its targeting of civilians in the occupied Palestinian territory by using excessive and deadly force against unarmed civilians in response to a series of public demonstrations that erupted on 1 October 2015 in protest of the Israeli violations against Palestinians, Judaization of Jerusalem, and implementation of the temporal and special division of Al-Aqsa mosque.

    Press releases and Headlines

The IOF use of excessive and deadly force in its systematic killing of unarmed civilians led to a significant rise in the number of casualties among Palestinians civilians, especially among peaceful protesters.

Therefore, Al Mezan is publishing these statistics based on its monitoring and documentation of casualties of Al-Quds Intifada starting from 9 October 2015.

As a result of the ongoing targeting of civilians in the west bank and Jerusalem, people in the Gaza Strip stood in solidarity with their fellow Palestinians. Public demonstrations broke out on Friday, 9 October 2015 and the IOF used live ammunition, rubber bullets, and tear gas against unarmed protesters, in addition to the deliberate targeting of journalists and medical personnel despite wearing official uniforms with visible emblems.

Al Mezan denounces the targeting of unarmed civilians, journalist and medical personnel. Furthermore, Al Mezan affirms that these violations have escalated due to the International community’s failure to fulfill its legal and moral obligations and pursue prosecution of persons who have committed or have ordered the perpetration of such violations.
