At 4pm on Sunday, 12 August 2018, Israeli forces located near the security fence in east of Abu Safia area in east Jabalia refugee camp opened fired and launched tear gas canisters at hundreds of Palestinians joining the Great Return March demonstration in the area. Two demonstrators, including one child, were injured with live fire that hit them in the lower limbs. Both casualties were moderate in severity, according to doctors at the Indonesia Hospital in North Gaza district. Field-based medical teams provided the necessary treatment to other demonstrators who suffered from breathing difficulties due to Israeli forces’ heavy use of tear gas. The Israeli shooting continued until the evening of the same day.
