Two Palestinians Killed, and 155 Injured in Israeli Shooting at Demonstrators in Eastern Rafah

At 1:30pm on Friday, 6 April 2018, Israeli forces located on the eastern borders of the Gaza strip opened fire and launched tear-gas grenades at groups of youth, children and women  joining the “Great Return March” demonstration in eastern Rafah. Doctors at the European Gaza Hospital announced the death of Mohamed Saleh,33-year old who was fatally shot both in the chest and in the abdomen; and Alaa Eddin Al Zamili,16-year old who was fatally wounded by a bullet in the neck. Both are residents of Rafah. 155 other demonstrators were also injured, including 30 children. Of these casualties, 69 sustained wounds by live fire, 80 by tear gas, six by shrapnel, and two by rubber-coated metal bullets. Medical officials stated that five of these casualties are at a critical case. Two paramedics were also shot: Murad Isma'il Hussein al-Najjar, 35, who was wounded by a live bullet in the foot, and Abdul Raziq Ibrahim Ajaman Abu Athra, 35, who sustained wounds by a live bullet in the right foot. Both of them are Red Crescent paramedic volunteers. Khalil Abu Atra, 35-year old cameraman working for Al-Aqsa channel, was wounded by a live bullet in the left leg, and Alaa Al Namla, 35-year old news correspondent to Al Quds radio, was wounded by shrapnel that hit his right arm.
