Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns the forcible transfer of Mr.
Mohammed Abu Tair, a member of Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), from Jerusalem to Ramallah.
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) took Mr.
Abu Tair from the occupied Jerusalem and left him at Betonia checkpoint in the occupied city of Ramallah.
On Wednesday 8 December 2010, a Magistrate Court sanctioned the transfer of Tair from Jerusalem in violation of international law.
On the same day, the IOF carried out the transfer.
Al Mezan asserts that this new Israeli conduct comes in a context of systematic policy that aims to evict Palestinian citizens of East Jerusalem.
The IOF’s forced evictions, house demolitions have increased.
Coupled with urban planning and taxes policies that ultimately favor and support Jewish residence in the city, these conducts have lead to displacement of thousands of Palestinians.
Al Mezan calls on the international community to make effective interventions to the violations of international law carried out by Israel in Jerusalem and to ensure protection of civilians against the increasing acts and policies that carry racist aims in them.
